ARF Selects a Property in Guyra to Base its Genetics and R & D Facility
Australian Rabbit Farms Pty Ltd has decided to make a serious long term investment in the future of the Australian farmed rabbit meat industry by establishing its Genetic and R & D headquarters in Guyra. An approximate 100 acre property has already been selected and proposals for its subdivision and re-zoning with local council are already underway.
This recent development does not in any way connect nor is associated with Angora City Rabbits; Australian Rabbit Farms will be taking the farmed meat rabbit industry of Australia in a new direction.
The ARF facility is aiming to include the following infrastructure: -
A genetic research centre which will be responsible for breeding stock production (4000 doe capacity).
An artificial insemination centre with a 3000 doe capacity (semen production and distribution).
A display production meat farm (1000 doe capacity) for training purposes.
Accommodation facilities, education centre and an industrial trial kitchen.
ARF has selected Guyra for its optimal climate characteristics, logistically attractive position in terms of distribution i.e. the North West is half way between Brisbane and Sydney, and it’s local agricultural, scientific and technical reputation, expertise and facilities (UNE, AGBU, CSIRO etc).
ARF hopes that as a result of this project that many long and short -term employment opportunities may be created for the Guyra and greater North West region and that the direct outputs of this facility will act as a catalyst in advancing the growth and performance of the farmed meat rabbit industry of Australia in its entirety.
Stay tuned for further developments.
